Date of Visit: 11th December 2006

Unusually for this conference I asked Duncan Williamson of Oxbow to come along. I also obtained permission for one of my own pupils Wasim, to sit in as he too was nearing examinations. As a ‘reward’ for sitting in Wasim was to find out from the other students how the conference went…

The original email:

I was wondering whether you could visit our Sixth Form Academy to run a conference in December. Mondays would be best – 27/11/06, 4/12/06, 11/12/06 are possible dates. Monday is the day during which we could cover most groups without pulling too many students away from other
classes.

Focus would be Marketing & Finance for AS and A2 groups. Student numbers could be as many as 110 -120 so we would organise a lecture theatre. A2 students would be best scheduled for the afternoon. There is expected to be four AS groups and two A2 groups.

Students will vary from 16 – 21 years and most will have part-time jobs. A lot of them will be drivers or applying for their driving test. Some students will be doing AS for the first time, others will be sitting an extra AS subject in their A2 year. Some may have taken two years or more to get to AS year via GCSE retakes or a GNVQ and/or a year spent out of school.

I look forward to hearing from you. Many thanks.
