With reference to our recent phone discussion about a one day business
revision conference at Newport Free Grammar School, our preferred dates are:

Friday Dec 15
Friday Dec 8
Thursday Dec 14

The main focus to be on AQA A2 Unit 4, how to revise and approach this exam and maybe an hour for teachers at lunch time.

There will be two, maybe three teachers, we would be interested in different teaching strategies that you find successful, we are looking to improve marks for unit 4 and unit 6.

The plan for the conference was as follows:

09.30 – 10.00            Definitions
10.00 – 10.15            Using a Sun Newspaper article
10.30 – 11.00            Mind Map section (teamwork)
11.00 – 11.45            Present and Discuss
11.45 – 12.00            Ideas (for and against)
12.00 – 13.00            Lunch
31.00 – 13.30            Book reviews
13.30 – 14.00            Mock exam
14.00 – 14.30            Marking the mock
14.30 – 15.00            Marketing plan

As part of the conference SIX textbooks (photocopiable – total value: £180) were given to the school FREE. All this to encourage intensive revision for the exams in January.

Full details are given on this – why not save yourself £10,000 a year?

The Conference Taking Place:

Note how emphasis is placed on pupil participation – that’s the way to cause learning!

After the conference a full report was sent to the school with suggestions as to follow-up material…

Compliments

I am really excited to let you know I got an A in economics, I got 88% in the Global Economy paper and 80% in the other paper about work and leisure markets! I am so so so happy! And the good news is I am now going to be studying dentistry and Cardiff! Thanks for all your help and encouragement, I would not have got that grade without you! Thanks again Chris, I’m forever grateful. - Rosie, Student
